Singapore Identity Plan (Southern Ridges - Telok Blangah Hill Park) Commemorative $1 Coin

On 10 May 2008, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) launched the 2008 Singapore Identity Plan (Southern Ridges) Coins, the fourth set in a series to commemorate the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s (URA) Identity Plan.

Coin Design:

The coin designs are based on distinctive features of the Southern Ridges cluster – Telok Blangah Hill Park.

A common theme that runs through the coins is the architectural designs of two key pedestrian bridges at the Southern Ridges:  the 80m long Alexandra Arch across Alexandra Road which connects to the 1.6km long elevated walkway leading to Telok Blangah Hill Park; and the 274m long Henderson Waves, which spans across Henderson Road to connect Telok Blangah Hill Park to Mount Faber Park. The obverse of the coins bears the Singapore Arms with the year-date 2008.
